Prasidh Krishna ruled out of IPL 2023 due to injury
Rajasthan Royals have confirmed that their right-arm pacer Prasidh Krishna has been officially ruled out of the forthcoming edition of the Indian Premier League as he is still to recover from injury.
He was available for Rajasthan in the last edition of the Indian Premier League. He played 17 games for the franchise and bagged 19 wickets at an economy rate of 8.29. His best bowling figures turned out to be 3/22 in the last edition.
As far as turning up for the Men in Blue is concerned, Prasidh last represented India during their tour of Zimbabwe in August 2022 and was undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru since then due to stress fracture.
During his IPL career, Prasidh has played 51 games and bagged a total of 49 wickets at an economy rate of 8.92. He has represented India only in the ODI circuit thus far and played 14 games and snared 25 wickets at an average of 23.92 and also has an impressive economy rate to go with it i.e. 5.32.
Stress fracture has plagued many prominent fast bowlers in the past including India’s spearhead Jasprit Bumrah and takes a considerable time to heal completely. Prasidh will hope to make a comeback in time to competitive cricket before the 50-over World Cup gets underway in India in October or else he might end up missing the tournament altogether.
Prasidh made his international debut for India against England in Pune on March 23, 2021 and his last game for the country (thus far) was against the Chevrons in Harare on August 20, 2022.
With Prasidh battling an injury on the sidelines, there are enough reasons to worry about for India as Bumrah is also yet to make his comeback for India after he was ruled out of the T20 World Cup in 2022 due to a back injury. India are currently operating without the services of Bumrah in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia.
