Players with double of 10K runs and 50 wickets in Tests

Joe Root

Be it any format of cricket, players being able to attain milestones is a great delight. It gets even sweeter when there is only a handful of players in an exclusive club who have etched their names in history. In the longest format of the sport, creating or breaking records is not everyone’s cup of tea. Furthermore, imagine a player scoring over 10,000 runs and also scalping 50 wickets during their professional career, which certainly is a massive achievement. No wonder, there have been just three players to do so in the format thus far:

3. Joe Root (ENG)- 10629 runs and 50 wickets

The red-ball specialist Englishman has 10629 Test runs and 50 wickets to his name. Root touched a magnificent milestone during the ongoing Test series against Pakistan. The Three Lions international is known mainly for his batting skills and attaining 10,000+ runs is no big surprise but the player also scalped 50 wickets makes it all the more special. He claimed the wicket of Faheem Ashram of Pakistan during the first session of day four of the second Test between the two heavyweights.

2.  Steve Waugh (AUS) – 10927 runs and 92 wickets

Steve Waugh was regarded as a mastermind with the bat as he would effortlessly score the runs for the Aussies. He racked up 10927 runs during his stint with the national side in the red-ball format. Furthermore, with the ball, being a medium pacer, he claimed 92 wickets making him the second player in the sport to join the elite club of 10,000+ runs and 50 wickets.

1. Jacques Kallis (SA) – 13289 runs and 292 wickets

The South African great was a treat to watch whenever he took the field. The flamboyant right-hander racked up 292 wickets with his decent pace and got a mammoth 13289 runs off the bat during his time with the Proteas in the whites. With this, he etched history as he topped the list of players to reach 10,000+ runs and 50 wickets.
