Players who achieved Test double century, ODI 150, and T20I century
Smashing a century in any particular format is special but to convert it into a big one is something more remarkable. Cricketers dream of reaching the three-figure mark in the ultimate format of the game, the Test format, but scoring a double ton is icing on the cake. The same goes for a substantial knock of above 150 in the one-day international format. Reaching a hundred in the shortest international format, the T20 format is something which every player can’t do so but some prominent names have managed to achieve it. There are also some great players who have done the treble of the above-mentioned feats and they feature in this article.
Let’s take a look at the cricketers with double hundred in Tests, 150 in ODIs, and 100 in T20Is (Only 6):
Chris Gayle
Former West Indian Chris Gayle first reached the landmark of a double century (204) in a Test match against New Zealand at St George’s in 2002. Gayle’s first score of above 150 in a one-day international came against Kenya in Nairobi in 2001 when he scored 152. Finally, he smashed a hundred (117) in the T20 format against South Africa in the opening match of the T20 World Cup in Johannesburg in 2007.
Brendon McCullum
Former New Zealand wicketkeeper-batter Brendon McCullum is one of the six players to grab the treble. He first went past the 200-run mark in Test cricket against India in Hyderabad in 2010. McCullum’s only ODI score of above 150 came against Ireland in Aberdeen in 2008 when he smashed 166. The destructive batter slammed a ton in the T20I format against Australia in Christchurch in 2010, when he amassed 116*.
Tamim Iqbal
Veteran Bangladeshi batter Tamim Iqbal got his only double hundred (206) in the longest format of the game against Pakistan in Khulna in 2015. He first crossed the 150-run mark in the ODIs against Zimbabwe in Bulawayo in 2009 when he mustered 154. Finally, his maiden and only ton (103*) in T20Is came against Oman in Dharamsala in the T20 World Cup 2016.
David Warner
Australia’s explosive left-handed opening batter David Warner also finds his name in this list. His first knock of above 200 in the whites came against Trans-Tasman rivals New Zealand in Perth in the year 2015 when he struck a mammoth 253. Warner went past 150 in ODIs for the first time against Sri Lanka in Brisbane in 2012 when he scored 163. His only ton (100*) in T20Is also came against the same opposition in Adelaide in 2019.
Rohit Sharma
India skipper Rohit Sharma is the fifth name to occupy the chart. His only double hundred in Test cricket came against South Africa in Ranchi in 2019 when he racked up 212. The man with three double tons in ODIs, first crossed the 150-run mark in the format against Australia in Bangalore in 2013 when he slammed 209. He also has four centuries to his name in T20Is, of which the first one (106) came against South Africa in Dharamsala in 2015.
Virat Kohli
Former India captain Virat Kohli is the last name on this list. The prolific right-handed batter first reached the 200-run mark against West Indies in North Sound in 2016 when he scored 200. He first surpassed 150 in ODIs against Pakistan in Mirpur in Asia Cup 2012. Kohli slammed 183 off 148 with the help of 22 fours and a six. He scored his maiden ton (122) in T20Is against Afghanistan in Dubai in Asia Cup 2022.
