PBKS vs MI Review – Mumbai hunt 200+ target in consecutive games
Shikhar Dhawan-led Punjab Kings came second best against Mumbai Indians at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali on May 3 as the visitors gunned down 215 with six wickets in hands, winning on the back of quickfire half-centuries from Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav along with the finishing touches from Tilak Varma and Tim David.
Coming in to bat first after losing the toss, Punjab Kings got off to the worst of starts as Prabhsimran Singh was dismissed early. With Shikhar Dhawan and Matt Short failing to make much impact, Liam Livingstone and Jitesh Sharma rose to the occasion and amassed 82* and 49* runs and were involved in an unbeaten 119-run stand off just 53 deliveries to take Punjab to a whopping 214/3. Piyush Chawla (2/24) and Arshad Khan (1/48) were the only wicket-takers while Jofra Archer conceded a whopping 56 runs in four overs.
Coming in to chase, Mumbai Indians lost skipper Rohit Sharma for a duck. With Cameron Green failing to make an impact, Kishan (75 off 41) and Suryakumar (66 off 31) got brilliant half-centuries before being dismissed in quick time.
However, the late pushes by Tim David (26* off 10) and Tilak Varma (19* off 10) led Mumbai to chase the huge target down with seven balls left in the game. Mumbai emerged victorious as they won the game by six wickets. For Punjab, Nathan Ellis picked 2/34 while Rishi Dhawan and Arshdeep Singh picked a wicket each.
