PBKS vs DC Review – Delhi diminishes Punjab’s playoff chances
Delhi Capitals dented Punjab Kings’ hopes of qualifying for the IPL 2023 playoffs. Visitors defeated the hosts by 15 runs on Wednesday, May 17 at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Dharamsala. After being put in to bat first, DC scored a massive 213/2 courtesy of a breathtaking knock from Rilee Rossouw. In reply, PBKS could only manage to reach 198/8 in their 20 overs as Liam Livingstone’s heroics went in vain.
Delhi got off to a flying start. David Warner (46 off 31) and Prithvi Shaw added 94 runs for the first wicket off just 62 balls. Shaw brought up his first half-century of the season. He scored 54 off 38 balls. smashing seven fours and a six in his innings.
Following the dismissals of Shaw and Warner, Rossouw continued the onslaught on the opposition and played a breathtaking knock of 82* off 37 balls clobbering six fours and six sixes in his innings taking DC to 213/2 in the first innings.
In reply, Punjab got off to the worst possible start losing Shikhar Dhawan for a golden duck after Prabhsimran Singh failed to score a single run in the first over. Prabhsimran (22 off 19) added 50 runs for the second wicket with Atharva Taide. Following his dismissal, Liam Livingstone and Atharva Taide (55 off 42) got involved in a 78-run stand off 50 balls for the third wicket.
Taide got retired out after 15 overs but Livingstone (94 off 48) tried his best to take his side home but failed to get support from other batters. As a result, PBKS lost the match by 15 runs.

Rilee Rossouw: After having a quiet first seven games of the season, Rossouw finally broke lose against PBKS and played a breathtaking innings of 82* off just 37 balls. He first got involved in a 54-run stand with Shaw for the second wicket and later on, put up an unbeaten 65-run stand for the third wicket.
Liam Livingstone: Livingstone played scintillating innings of 94 off 48 balls smashing five fours and nine sixes in his innings. Courtesy of his knock Punjab was in the game till the last over, however, they eventually fell short.
What’s next for both teams?
Punjab Kings will next lock horns with Rajasthan Royals on Friday, May 19 at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Dharamsala. On the other hand, Delhi will end their IPL 2023 campaign with a game against Chennai on May 20.
