Pat Cummins is the toughest bowler I have faced: Pujara

Cheteshwar Pujara is one of the most intense batters in modern-day cricket. The Saurashtra batter loves to bat and when he gets in his elements, it gets difficult for the opposition to get him out. Pujara is a batter who is known for his calm demeanour and patience both on and off the field, and anger is one trait that one may not associate with him.

However, the Saurashtra batter did reveal one of the things that makes him extremely angry. Pujara’s appetite for scoring runs and big hundreds is well known, and likely so, the thing that angers him the most is when he loses his wicket.

In a recent chat with a cricket news website, Pujara was asked what makes him angry? The batter replied, “When I get out, that is when I am the angriest. I know how to control my emotions, but I am the angriest when I get out.”

Pujara was also asked to name his best innings in the longest format of the game and he chose his 92-run knock against Australia in the Bengaluru Test in 2017. Pujara also revealed that a bowler from the past he would want to face is Glenn McGrath, while a batter he would liked to have batted with would be Brian Lara.

On being asked about the toughest bowler he has ever faced, the right-hander chose Pat Cummins in Australia. Notably, Pujara and Cummins will be against each other again when India and Australia battle it out in the upcoming four-match Test series, starting in February in Nagpur.

The series holds a higher degree of importance for India, since a victory would guarantee them a spot in the World Test Championship Final. The dates of the World Test Championship are yet to be finalised, however, it is expected to be played in the first week of June at the Oval.
