Pat Cummins gives ‘the reason’ behind India’s win at Gabba
Pat Cummins became the Player of the Series when India played Australia in the four-match Test series of the Border Gavaskar Trophy. The Aussies lost the series 1-2, but Cummins went on to become the leading wicket-taker with 21 scalps. In the final Test at the Gabba in Brisbane, the pacer picked up six wickets, but couldn’t save his team from a three-wicket defeat.
Rishabh Pant’s unbeaten 89 in the fourth innings meant that Australia were defeated in one of their most formidable venues. In the meantime, Cummins conducted a Question and Answer session on Instagram during his quarantine period before the IPL. One of the fans asked him about why the Aussies lost in Brisbane.
“Reason of loss at Gabba?” the fan wrote. Cummins replied with a pinch of humour and he also posted a sad expression in the background. He replied and wrote, “India got more runs”.
Enjoyed playing under GG: Pat Cummins
Earlier, Cummins recalled the moments when he was a part of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) franchise back in 2014. In that season, the Knights came out trumps after beating Kings XI Punjab (KXIP), now Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the final.
“Favourite moment was my first IPL in 2014 with Kolkata winning the title and then going to next day and see hundreds of thousands of fans on street going crazy,” Cummins was quoted as saying in a video.
He also lauded Gautam Gambhir as an aggressive skipper. “Enjoyed playing under GG (Gautam Gambhir) he was always really aggressive as a captain which I loved,” he stated. Under Gambhir, the Knights also won the IPL trophy back in 2012, beating Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the final.
Cummins praised Mumbai Indians’ (MI) Jasprit Bumrah and also had words of praise for his KKR teammate, Kamlesh Nagarkoti. “I like watching Bumrah bowl and in KKR youngster Kamlesh Nagarkoti,” he added.
