Pakistan to host England, New Zealand in 2022/23
Pakistan’s schedule for the 2022/23 season is out and the team will be hosting three teams in the next year and will be touring Sri Lanka during this period. Pakistan will face West Indies, Sri Lanka, England, and New Zealand in the bilateral series, apart from playing the Asia Cup in Sri Lanka, the T20 World Cup in Australia and the Pakistan Super League.
They will host West Indies in June for a three-match ODI series and will travel to Sri Lanka in July for two Tests and three ODIs. They will extend their stay in Sri Lanka to play the T20 Asia Cup and will go back home to host England for seven T20Is in September as per CricWick.
Their October will be packed as all the teams will grind in Australia for the T20 World Cup 2022, which will last till November. End of the month, they will take on England again at home for three Tests followed by a two-match Test series and a three-match ODI series against New Zealand at home in December and January.
Pakistan might also play a four-nation tournament if the ICC approves the proposal
The Caribbean team will visit Pakistan again for a three-match T20I series, and at the conclusion of that the Pakistani players will start preparing for the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Their season will end with New Zealand travelling to Pakistan for five ODIs and as many T20Is.
Meanwhile, Pakistan recently hosted Australia in three Tests, three ODIs and a one-off T20I. The first two Tests of the series ended in a draw, followed by Australia sealing a historic win in the third and deciding Test. Pakistan bounced back in the ODI series as they defeated the Men in Yellow by 2-1, but lost the only T20I game that was played.
Notably, Pakistan Cricket Board Chair Ramiz Raja is in talks with the International Cricket Council (ICC) for a four-nation tournament involving India, Pakistan, Australia and England. He has proposed the idea to the ICC at the meeting that was held in Dubai. He believes that India vs Pakistan is the most loved and most-watched clash and this tournament would make it even more interesting.
