Pakistan lose top spot in ODI rankings in 48 hours
After a defeat against New Zealand in the final ODI of the five-match series, Pakistan lost the No. 1 spot in the ICC Men’s ODI team rankings, just a couple of days after claiming the feat. The Babar Azam-led side claimed the top position after defeating New Zealand in the fourth ODI. They had to claim a clean sweep in order to retain their position on the table.
The Kiwis outperformed in the final ODI and handed Pakistan a 47-run defeat. This led to the Men in Green dropping down in the rankings table, hours after they had achieved the historic milestone. Notably, Pakistan took the No. 1 place for the first time in the history of the ICC rankings.
