Pakistan announce squads for limited-overs series against Australia
The Pakistan Cricket Board has announced its limited-overs squad for the ODI and T20I series against Australia. Asif Afridi, who does not have prior experience of featuring at the international arena, has been named in both the ODI and T20I squad. Mohammad Haris also finds his name in the Pakistan squad as a wicketkeeper.
Batting talisman Babar Azam will lead both the ODI as well as the T20I squads. Also, left-arm spinner Mohammad Nawaz has been named in the squad. But, Nawaz has still not recovered completely from his foot injury. Pakistan will take on the visitors in three ODIs and a solitary T20I match. While the ODI series is slated to begin on 29th March 2022, the only T20I match of the series will be held on 5th April 2022. All the matches will take place at the Rawalpindi cricket stadium.
Pakistan are currently involved in a three-match Test series against the Australian side. After the end of two Tests, the scoreline reads 0-0. In the second Test match, Pakistan were set a target of 506 for a win or had to play out more than five sessions to earn a draw. Skipper Babar Azam played a stellar knock, scoring a 425-ball 196, as Pakistan ended their second innings with the scoreboard showing 443/7 and pulled off a draw.
