Test cricket is a format in which batsman have enough time to settle on the crease and can bat with patience. It is very rare to see batsmen hitting sixes at regular intervals in the longest format. However, there have been some cricketers who play with the same aggressive mindset even in a five-day format. In this particular article, we will be listing out those five players who have hit the most sixes in the history of Test cricket.

5. Virender Sehwag – 91

Former Indian opener Virender Sehwag started a new revolution in Test cricket in the modern era with his explosive style. He scored 8586 runs in the format at an incredible strike rate of 82.33. Sehwag smashed 91 sixes and 1233 fours in his Test career. He hit 23 centuries and 32 fifties. He also holds the record for most Test tons (7) in less than 100 balls.

2. Adam Gilchrist – 100

Former Aussie opener Adam Gilchrist was the first player to complete 100 sixes in Test cricket. He amassed 5570 runs from 137 innings at an average of 47.60 and a strike rate of 81.95.  The left-hander hit 100 sixes and 677 fours in total. He slammed 17 centuries and 26 fifties with a high score of 204*

1. Brendon McCullum – 107

Former Kiwi captain Brendon McCullum holds the record for hitting most sixes in the history of Test cricket. He smashed 107 maximums and 776 fours in 101 Test matches. The wicketkeeper aggregated 6453 runs at an average of 38.64 and a strike rate of 64.6. He slammed 12 centuries and 31 half-centuries in his Test career. McCullum also holds the record for the fastest century in Test cricket.
