Out without scoring: Five players with the most ducks in IPL

Indian Premier League (IPL) has witnessed records being broken and created during its rich history of 13 years. Some of the players, featuring in the league, have also bagged some embarrassing records in the T20 extravaganza. Certain batsmen have got out on duck for a handful number of times and here we bring you five batsmen with the most ducks in IPL:

Piyush Chawla – 12 ducks in 81 innings

Leg-spin bowler Piyush Chawla is placed at fifth position in this list with 12 ducks under his belt from 81 IPL innings. Apart from Chawla, as many as five players including the likes of  Gautam Gambhir, Piyush Chawla, Mandeep Singh, Manish Pandey, and Ambati Rayudu have also bagged a duck for 12 times. But Chawla has bagged 12 ducks in fewer innings than all these players.

Rohit Sharma – 13 ducks in 195 innings

India’s batting mainstay across all three formats and vice-captain of limited-overs format Rohit Sharma is considered as one of the most successful captains of the Indian T20 Extravaganza. Under the leadership of Rohit, franchise Mumbai Indians has lifted the cup five times in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020. The opening batsman also has many personal milestones under his belt while batting in IPL. Thus his name in this list might come as a shock to many but in 195 IPL innings, Rohit scored zero runs 13 times.

Ajinkya Rahane – 13 ducks in 140 innings

India’s vice-captain in the Test format has been a constant in the Indian Premier League (IPL) but wouldn’t be probably proud of his name in the most number of ducks charts. In 140 IPL innings, Ajinkya has scored a stunning 3933 runs at a good average of 31.7 but also had to march back to the pavilion before scoring even a single run 13 times.

The veteran wicketkeeper-batsman Parthiv Patel also has 13 ducks to his name just like Harbhajan Singh but in 137 innings.
