Oshane Thomas avoids serious injury after motor accident

West Indies fast bowler Oshane Thomas avoided serious injury after being involved in a motor accident in Jamaica on Sunday (16th February). According to the latest reports, the seamer is recovering well and is resting at his home. The confirmation came after “Jamaica Observer” quoted Thomas’ agent, Mark Neita, who said that the cricketer was discharged after undergoing scans and treatment at a hospital.

According to a statement released by West Indies Players’ Association (WIPA), Thomas was involved in a two-vehicle collision and was taken to a hospital. “The West Indies Players’ Association (WIPA) extends best wishes to West Indies and Jamaica fast-bowler Oshane Thomas who was involved in a motor vehicle accident on Sunday, February 16 in Jamaica,” an official statement said.

“Thomas was reportedly involved in a two-vehicle collision on Highway 2000 near Old Harbour in St. Catherine and was taken to hospital. WIPA’s executive and staff would like to extend our sympathies to Oshane. We wish for him a speedy and full recovery.”

Thomas turned 23 on Tuesday (18th February) and last played for West Indies in an ODI against Ireland last month. He has represented his nation in 20 ODIs and 10 T20Is, picking up 27 and nine wickets respectively. Former West Indian fast bowler Tino Best wished a speedy recovery to his fellow cricketer on Twitter.

“Glad to hear Oshane Thomas is good give thanks and praises yute ??❤️,” tweeted Best.

West Indies will be next seen in the action against Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka. The Caribbean team will play three ODIs and two T20Is.
