On this day in 2018: Kohli ton highlights tied ODI against West Indies

He came up with his usual heroics and class to smash a terrific century (157 off 129) and kept pushing the team forward. Ashley Nurse and Devendra Bishoo were most economical for the Caribbean team. Nurse and Obed McCoy picked two wickets each to level up the bowling section of the visitors.

The thrilling chase

Chasing the big target, the opening stand of Kieran Powell and Chandrapaul Hemraj didn’t do any wonder for the side. However, the main fightback began when Shai Hope stepped out in the middle. He kept fighting till the end to ultimately tie the match between the two sides. He played a brilliant knock of 123 off 134 to lend his team robust support and was coupled by the heroics of Shimron Hetmyer, who produced a significant 94 runs off just 64 balls.

Talking about the bowling department of the host side, Ravindra Jadeja and pace star Mohammed Shami were economical for the team. On the other hand, Kuldeep Yadav named three scalps to his credit. Though the match ended in a tie, the laudable efforts from both sides grabbed too much attention. Virat Kohli was named the player of the match for his tremendous ton.

The thing to be noted over here is India won the first ODI in the same series by eight wickets. And it was Kohli who received the player of the match honour for yet another splendid century.
