On this day in 2015: India defeat South Africa within three days in Mohali Test
Over the years, the Indian side has developed itself as a highly competitive side where opponents live in constant fear to face them any day. The amount of hard work and dedication poured in to become one of the cricketing giants in the world has been endless. Also, there has been stiff competition between players to land in the national side, but only the best of the best get a chance to do so.
Indian team’s several huge victories are a testament to its stature in modern cricket. One of them happened in 2015 against the South African team, where heroics by the Indian team wrapped up the Test match in just three days. The otherwise long event of five days saw the result in three days when Indians defeated the Proteas team by a huge 108 runs in the 1st Test of the series in Mohali. It was the South Africa tour of India in 2015, and hosts dominated the series like heroes.

On a turning track, the magic of Ashwin, Jadeja, Mishra (19/20 SA wickets in the match) combined with the skills of ChePu and Murali Vijay (50s for both of them) to give India a 108 run victory and 1-0 lead in the Test series against South Africa! pic.twitter.com/JPy8SKW8Sb— North Stand Gang – Wankhede (@NorthStandGang) November 7, 2019
Batting first, the Indian side got wrapped up on ordinary 201 runs where Murali Vijay’s innings of 75 runs was the bright spot. Dean Elgar shined with the ball surprisingly as he unlocked his four-wicket haul in the first innings. When South Africa batted, India turned the tables on them with their phenomenal bowling, to bundle out the visitors for just 184 runs all thanks to Ravi Ashwin, who looked dangerous that day and grabbed a fifer to his credit.
Jadeja stars in the second dig
In the second innings, India scored 200 runs, and this time it was Shikhar Dhawan who played a knock of 77 runs to push the team. All-rounder Simon Harmer picked four wickets for the visitors. When the guests came to chase the ordinary target, they saw their end on a mere 109 runs. The spin duo of Ravindra Jadeja and Ravi Ashwin wreaked havoc on their batters. Jadeja bagged a fifer under his pocket, whereas Ashwin picked three wickets to mark his contribution.
Jadeja was named as the player of the match for his brilliant bowling show and contribution with the bat in the first innings. India won this match by 108 runs and dominated the series to win it by 4-0. It was one of the several great shows where the Indian team purely overpowered the guests.
