ODI World Cup 2023: ICC to inspect Eden Gardens on August 5

Ahead of the upcoming ODI World Cup International Cricket Council (ICC) representatives will travel to Kolkata to inspect the iconic Eden Gardens. This however is just a routine checkup as the ground will be hosting multiple marquee matches in the competition. Notably, the team has already visited Dharamshala and will be coming to Kolkata next.

Notably, Kolkata will be hosting India versus South Africa on November 5. It will also host the second semi-final of the tournament. Other than that, it will also host matches of Pakistan and Bangladesh. Meanwhile, as per reports, the Snehasish Ganguly-led side is ready to host the ICC team and has already arranged everything.

They have already made a new hospitality box and the clubhouse is also being revamped as the stadium is expected to host more than 60,000 fans every game.

“We are prepared for every challenge. And if an India vs Pakistan match will be there, then it would be good for us. Nothing more exciting than that. We are ready. ICC is coming to inspect us, more work is in progress. We also had talked with the police. They are also ready to give security every time. We are very confident,” CAB president Snehasish Ganguly told India Today.

Meanwhile, Eden Gardens will also host India versus Pakistan clash if both teams make it to the semi-finals (SF-2). The stadium did host the iconic clash in the 2016 T20 World Cup and is ready to host again if they get an opportunity. Former president Sourav Ganguly has already expressed his desire to host the big one but everything will depend on how these two teams play in the league.

Notably, Kolkata will be hosting its first match on October 28, right after the Durga Puja celebrations. On the other hand, Snehasish Ganguly has confirmed that the ticket prices will be cheap, but the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will have the final say on this.
