Not out nineties: Batsmen to remain unbeaten in 90s most times in IPL history

The Indian Premier League is regarded as the most competitive league among all other T20 tournaments in the world. Players give their best shot to make a mark in the league. While doing well for their respective franchises, there have been Indian names who have directly got a call from the national side. Therefore, it is a great platform to showcase the talent in the best manner.

IPL is also known for batsmen dominating on most of the occasions as records tumble in the competition. There are players who have hit the century in this format and got all the appreciation, but on the other hand, there are also a few players who have remained unbeaten in the 90s on numerous occasions.

Let’s talk about this list.

So in total, there have been 31 incidents in the 13-year history of the IPL where a batsman remained unbeaten in his 90s. The 31 instances involve a total of 22 players, and some top names make it to this list. RCB skipper Virat Kohli and Delhi’s ace batsman Shikhar Dhawan have remained not out in their 90s for a total of three times each.

Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan top the list

The first time Virat Kohli missed out on his ton was during the 2013 season of the IPL. It was RCB’s match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, where he missed his century and remained unbeaten on 93. It happened again in a match against Mumbai Indians, where he stood not out on 92 before the innings ended. Talking about Shikhar Dhawan, he was also not out in his 90s for three times like Virat Kohli.

Dhawan recently gained limelight when he smashed two back to back centuries and labelled another record on his name. Next in line are players who have remained unbeaten in their 90s for two times so far. These names include another Indian star Virender Sehwag followed by Australian great Shane Watson, Universe Boss Chris Gayle, David Warner, and England star Jos Buttler.

Other players who have remained not out in the 90s are Naman Ojha, Mahela Jayawardene, Suresh Raina, Dinesh Karthik, Rohit Sharma among many others.
