Nicholas Pooran opines on his poor performance in IPL 2021
The 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) had to be stopped only after 29 matches due to COVID outbreak within the bubble. But West Indies cricketer Nicholas Pooran endured a tough time during this period as well while playing for the Punjab Kings. The franchise persisted with him despite repeated failures and had to drop him eventually to accommodate Dawid Malan in the line-up.
Pooran bagged four ducks in six innings with his other scores being 9 and 19. Though he batted lower down the order at five or six, the southpaw on multiple occasions, had a chance to make an impact. But somehow, he could never get off the blocks and struggled when the team needed him. Overall in his IPL career as well, Pooran has mustered only 549 runs in 26 innings with a couple of half-centuries.
Despite bossing in T10 and other T20 leagues, Nicholas Pooran has not been able to stamp his authority in the IPL which is regarded as the best tournament in the world. However, the 25-year-old isn’t deterred with a poor show and has vowed to comeback stronger than ever. Rather he has taken these scores as a motivation and will keep working hard to make sure he scores next time when the tournament resumes.
The suspension of the tournament and the reasons behind it are heart breaking, but neccessary. See you soon IPL!
In the meantime I'll be using this picture as my motivation to come back stronger than ever. Keep safe everyone. pic.twitter.com/NS0SyliX5i

Nicholas Pooran also donated the portion of his salary
With India struggling due to second wave of COVID-19, Nicholas Pooran was also one of the foreign cricketers to come forward and help the country in its fight against the pandemic. Only a few days before IPL was suspended, the southpaw had revealed that he will be donating a portion of his salary to COVID relief funds while also urging others to donate in their own way during these tough times.
