WPL: Ellyse Perry shines as Bangalore secures their playoffs spot
Royal Challengers Bangalore sealed their berth in the knockouts of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024 with a seven-wicket win over Mumbai Indians Women in Match 19 on Tuesday, March 12 at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi. After being put in to bat first, Mumbai were bundled out for just 113 as Ellyse Perry ran through their batting order with her six-wicket haul.
In reply, RCB chased down the target in 15 overs as Perry starred with the bat as well and got good support from Richa Ghosh. The Smriti Mandhana-led side were in a spot of bother earlier, as they were reduced to 39/3 after 6.1 overs. However, Perry and Ghosh got involved in a massive 76-run standoff 53 balls for the fourth wicket to take their side to safe shores.

Best Bowler – Ellyse Perry (6/15)
The right-arm seamer etched her name in record books as she registered the best bowling figures ever in WPL history. Perry started the proceedings by getting wickets of the in-form batters Sajeevan Sajana (30 off 21) and Harmanpreet Kaur off consecutive deliveries by shattering their stumps. She further sent Amelia Kerr (2 off 5), Amanjot Kaur (4 off 2), Pooja Vastrakar (6 off 10) and Nat Sciver-Brunt (10 off 15) to register figures of 6/15 in four overs.
Best Batter – Ellyse Perry (40* off 38)
After blowing away MI with her marvelous bowling performance, Perry shone with the bat as well, as she bailed RCB out of trouble with her brilliant knock. She scored an unbeaten 40* off 38 balls with the help of five fours and a six and almost single-handedly took RCB to the knockout round.
What’s next for both teams?
RCB will next play the eliminator game which will decide the second finalist. However, their opponent will be one of MI or Delhi Capitals which will be decided after the last league game of the tournament.
