Watch: Ravindra Jadeja teases Chepauk crowd by walking ahead of MS Dhoni
Chennai Super Kings veteran Ravindra Jadeja pumped life and energy back into the yellow squad after their back-to-back drubbing in IPL 2024. CSK began their title defence with two victories on the trot but looked inferior in their next two games against Delhi and Hyderabad. However, as they bounced back to winning ways at Chepauk against KKR, Jadeja turned out to be a showstopper off the field too.
As soon as CSK lost their third wicket in pursuit of a 138-run target, MS Dhoni moved up the order and gave another moment for fans to behold. While the Chepauk crowd was going berserk to witness Dhoni with the bat, Jadeja teased the fans by walking ahead of the former skipper, only to go back in a hilarious turn of events.
Though Dhoni faced only three deliveries, the crowd had its moment of the night as they shouted their lungs out to welcome the hero. Back to the game, after calling right at the toss, CSK assessed the conditions pretty well and chose to bowl first. Hero of the night Jadeja spun the web around the KKR batters and remained frugal to get three crucial wickets.
After cutting out dangerous-looking Sunil Narine and Angkrish Raghuvanshi in the same over, Jadeja sent back Ventakesh Iyer in the ninth over to add to KKR’s miseries. The all-rounder also grabbed two important catches to remain in the spotlight throughout. For his 3/18 in four overs, Jadeja was rightfully rewarded as the player of the match where CSK won by seven wickets.
“Always enjoy my bowling on these kind of tracks. Was just looking to bowl in good areas. I’ve practiced a lot here – if you bowl in good areas, it helps you. Takes time for visiting team to settle down and plan something. Difficult for them to come here and identify the surface. We know the conditions very well,” said Jadeja after grabbing Player of the Match award.
