Watch: Rahul Dravid bowls to NCA staff in Bengaluru

Rahul Dravid ended his international career in 2011 and the former India captain is one of the stalwarts of Indian cricket with no ICC trophy. He then ventured into coaching and guided the Indian under-19 team to the U-19 World Cup 2018 title. But his eyes were on the senior men’s title and came close to achieving it in the 2023 World Cup if not for heartbreak in the final on November 19.

He finally turned the dream into reality as India lifted the T20 World Cup 2024 on 29th June 2024 and ended his coaching stint. After his successful career, the Karnataka batter was seen bowling to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) staff in Bengaluru. The video of the same is going viral on social media as the state’s son is back in the bay.

Here’s the video of Dravid bowling to the NCA staff:

You don’t plan these things: Rahul Dravid

After India managed to pull off a heist in Barbados to outclass South Africa and lay hands on the ICC title, Virat Kohli summoned Dravid to join the trophy-lifting celebration. The veteran, who is known to keep his emotions subdued, burst into aggressive cheer holding the trophy in his hand. When the 51-year-old was asked about the unusual celebration, he quipped that it was instinctive.

“You don’t plan these things. In most times, I try to keep my emotions in check as a coach and you are expected to do that. But at that time, I felt really happy for the team. I felt happy for the boys. I felt happy for the support staff. So many people who had worked really hard along with me,” said Dravid.

“We were just not able to cross the line in those critical moments. In those situations you need a little bit of luck, a little bit of destiny to work your way and that day it was with us,” he added.
