Watch: Jarvo’s appearance on Chepauk stadium surfaces on internet
India and Australia faced each other in match five of the ongoing ODI World Cup at Chepauk. During the first innings, while India were fielding, Daniel Jarvo, who is known for breaching security and entering the cricket grounds, appeared.
As he entered the field, he exchanged words with Mohammed Siraj before KL Rahul was seen animatedly speaking to him. Security rushed onto the field and pulled him away from the action. Virat Kohli also ran in to have a word with him. It seemed that Rahul and Kohli weren’t too pleased with his exploits. Later, the International Cricket Council (ICC) banned Jarvo from the remaining matches in the ODI World Cup 2023.
“The safety and security of everyone involved in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 is our priority. We will work with the venue to understand what happened and consider if any additional security measures are required to prevent it from happening again. The individual concerned has been banned from attending any further games at the event and the matter is in the hands of the Indian authorities,” ICC said in a statement.
Daniel Jarvo invades cricket field for the fourth time
While Jarvo claims to be a fan of the Indian team. But, entering the cricket field or any other sporting field without permission isn’t the right thing to do. This is the fourth time Jarvo has breached security and entered a cricket field during a match involving the ‘Men in Blue’. India went on to win the match by six wickets after dismissing Australia for 199.
KL Rahul was awarded Player of the Match for his unbeaten knock of 97 off 115 balls. While Virat Kohli also played a classical knock of 85 to bail India out after a disastrous start. Rohit Sharma’s men will play their second game in the showpiece event on Wednesday, October 11, in Delhi, against Afghanistan.
