Watch: Glenn Maxwell seen imitating Virat Kohli, Faf Du Plessis during nets
The excitement is very high in the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) camp as they gear up for the IPL 2024 opener against Chennai Super Kings on Friday, March 22. With memories of the previous season’s near miss in the playoffs still fresh, Faf du Plessis and his squad are gearing up to kickstart their campaign with a bang.
In a video that has since gone viral on social media, the Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell was seen mimicking the unique mannerisms of RCB batters Virat Kohli and skipper Faf du Plessis. With his trademark flair, Maxwell’s impersonations were a hit.
The clip began with Maxwell shadowing skipper Faf from behind the nets, mirroring his every move. Stepping out in a similar way to the South African’s distinctive backlift to the trademark cover drive, the Aussie had his fans in splits.

The real highlight came when Kohli came out to bat in the nets. Maxwell impersonated Kohli’s signature walk to the crease and his guard-taking ritual. He also shadowed his cover drive and the range of shots the batter plays.
Mohammed Siraj too got in on the act, turning into a slip fielder as Maxwell then donned the gloves to ‘keep’ the wicket during Kohli’s net session. The banter and camaraderie on display hinted at a happy and relaxed RCB dressing room heading into the tournament. Maxwell has earlier also been seen imitating his teammates, doing a wonderful job at that.
After taking part in the RCB Unbox event at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Tuesday, March 19, the team arrived in Chennai on the same night. RCB will be locking horns against the defending champions. In a piece of major news, CSK made a big announcement after MS Dhoni stepped down from captaincy and handed over the reins to Ruturaj Gaikwad.
