Watch: David Warner celebrates his 100 in Pushpa style against Pakistan

Australia and Pakistan locked horns in Match 18 of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 on Friday, October 20 at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. Pakistan captain Babar Azam won the toss and invited Australia to bat first on a great batting track. The decision backfired big time as Australian openers David Warner and Mitchell Marsh got involved in a massive opening stand of 259 runs off 203 balls.

Warner in particular looked in imperious touch as he brought up his 21st ODI hundred. The southpaw reached the landmark in the 31st over of the innings as he stole a single against Mohammad Nawaz. Notably, it was his fourth consecutive hundred against Pakistan in ODIs and the opening batter celebrated in some style as he jumped in the air in elation. Warner also did the famous gesture from the movie ‘Pushpa’ to celebrate the hundred as the crowd in Bengaluru chanted his name at the top of their voice.

Warner went on to play a scintillating knock of 163 off 124 balls smashing 14 fours and nine sixes in his innings. Courtesy of his knock, he rose to the sixth spot in the list of highest run scorers of the tournament. The 36-year-old now has 228 runs in four innings at an average of 57 and a strike rate 109 with one half-century.
