Surnrisers Hyderabad: IPL 2025 Preview

Where they finished last year

Sunrisers Hyderabad finished second on the points table in IPL 2024. They did that courtesy of eight wins, five losses, and one washed-out fixture. Their yearning for a second IPL title was wiped out by Kolkata Knight Riders in the final of the edition. It was their third loss to KKR that season.

What’s new in 2025?

Ishan Kishan’s acquisition into the squad acts as a severe boost to their already-stacked batting order possessing Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, Heinrich Klaasen, and Nitish Kumar Reddy.

The runners-up of the previous edition falls a touch short on local experience as far as batters are concerned. Abhinav Manohar played only a couple of games in the IPL last year while Sachin Baby last played in the IPL in 2021. Aniket Verma will be playing his debut IPL season.

Watch out for

Assuming Kishan fits in at No. 3, the top three of SRH is something that other teams will need to be wary of. The left-handed trifecta could make things count and put up a massive platform for the others to substantiate on their day. The recently recovered Mohammed Shami looked quite good during the Champions Trophy 2025. At peak intensity, Shami would be an absolute treat to look forward to.
