SL vs IND 2024: Top 3 run-scorers in ODI series

Sri Lanka emerged victorious in the recently concluded three-match ODI series against India by a 2-0 margin. After the first game was tied, the Lankan Lions won the next two games to beat India in a bilateral series for the first time in 27 years.

Batting was difficult during the series as the games were played on turning tracks at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. However, a few batters did showcase their skills in adverse conditions and made a mark. In this article, we take a look at the top three run-getters in the series.

3. Dunith Wellalage

The Sri Lankan all-rounder impressed with both bat and ball in the three games. He aggregated 108 runs from three innings at an average of 54. In the first two games, he scored 67 not out and 39 to help Sri Lanka get out of precarious positions. Wellalage finished with an average of 54 and a strike rate of 104.85.

2. Avishka Fernando

The right-handed batter threw his wicket away cheaply in the first ODI but bounced back commendably in the next two matches. In the second game, he played a watchful 40-run knock to set up a good platform for the home side. However, Fernando’s best knock came in the third game, where he smashed 96 runs off just 102 balls. The 26-year-old finished with 137 runs from three games at an average of 45.67 and a strike rate of 80.12.

1. Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma returned to ODI cricket for the first time since the World Cup final against Australia last year. He continued from where he left off in the marquee event, taking the attack to the opposition bowlers inside the powerplay overs. The India skipper finished with 157 runs at an average of 52.33. His awe-inspiring strike rate of 141.44 on tricky wickets earned a lot of praise from cricket enthusiasts.
