Sachin Tendulkar’s humorous post sends social media into frenzy

Midway through the week, social media erupted in fervor as none other than Indian batting legend, Sachin Tendulkar, shared a brilliantly captioned humorous post, paired with an engaging image, which captivated audiences and generated remarkable interaction.

In the image posted on his official X account, Sachin was depicted in a striking outfit, exuding an air of rejuvenated charm. The photograph captured his left-side profile as he bent gracefully over a riverbank, feeding a duck. The backdrop featured a picturesque landscape, showcasing a majestic mountain and exquisitely layered grasslands.

The caption was highly elucidative, particularly when complemented by the image he selected to share. This has an interesting backstory to it, which dates back to what he shared with a gathering during an event earlier this year.

In his narrative, he recounted an amusing anecdote from his childhood, detailing how he invited all his friends from the renowned Sahitya Sahawas housing society in Bandra, Mumbai, to watch him play gully cricket. During both matches, he was dismissed for a duck, which led him to the conclusion that it would be inconsiderate to subject his friends to such unremarkable performances. Consequently, he resolved not to invite them to future games. In his subsequent match, Tendulkar gleaned a significant lesson after managing to score just a single run.

“I realised the importance of a single run that is scored because later everyone used to tell us that one run can cost you, (that) either you can win or you can lose. But, it was such a big transformation. In the first two matches, I had two scores of zero and then scored one run and went home — that one run changed my mood,” Tendulkar cited during an event earlier this year.

Notably, the Master Blaster has been dismissed for a duck on 14 occasions in Test cricket, with Glenn McGrath, Makhaya Ntini, and Pedro Collins each having achieved this feat against him twice. In ODIs, he has been dismissed without scoring on 20 instances, with Courtney Walsh being the sole bowler to have dismissed him for a duck on two separate occasions.

Nevertheless, this does not one bit diminish the fact that he is widely regarded as one of the greatest batters in the history of the game.
