Royal Challengers Bangalore fan’s humble request to MS Dhoni goes viral
After a successful auction of the IPL 2024, all ten franchises have completed their squads and are all set to take on each other in the 17th edition of the tournament in 2024. Notably, Chennai Super Kings are the joint-most successful franchise in IPL history with five titles to their name along with Mumbai Indians.
However, there’s one team that has failed to have their hands on the coveted trophy despite having several international stars in their squad every season i.e. Royal Challengers Bangalore. In the 16 editions of the IPL, RCB have played three finals in 2008, 2011, and 2016 respectively but have failed to clinch the trophy.
Tired of RCB’s dismal record in IPL, recently a fan asked Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni to join their team in any role and help them win one trophy. The five-time IPL winner said that RCB is a good team but the unavailability of some players can hamper a team’s chances of winning.
“They’re a very good team but also what you need to see is in cricket everything doesn’t go according to plan. So, if you’re talking about IPL, all the ten teams more often than not, if they have the full players, all of them are very strong teams. The problem arises if you’re missing a few players because of injury or reasons like that,” said Dhoni at an event.
Dhoni further wished all the best to all the teams for the upcoming season and said that he couldn’t do much as he already had a lot to worry about his team.
“So, they’re a very good team and everybody has a fair chance in IPL. As of now, I’ve so many things to worry about in my own team so I would like to wish all the teams all the very best. But more than that I can’t really do much as of now because imagine me trying to come out of the way to support or help some other team then how will our fans feel,” he added.
CSK beat RCB in IPL 2011 final
Notably, CSK and RCB went head-to-head in the final of the 2011 IPL where CSK beat them by 58 runs. Furthermore, the five-time champions also have an upper hand over RCB having beaten them 20 times out of the 31 matches played between the two teams.
Meanwhile, RCB bought six players at the IPL 2024 mini-auction to complete their squad for the next season namely Alzarri Joseph, Yash Dayal, Tom Curran, Lockie Ferguson, Swapnil Singh, and Saurav Chauhan. Having reinforced their squad ahead of the next season, RCB will be desperate to finally end their trophy drought in IPL 2024.
