Reports: Suryakumar Yadav to miss start of IPL 2024 due to injury
With the 17th edition of the IPL (Indian Premier League) all set to kick off on March 22, many eyes will be set on the five-time champions Mumbai Indians ahead of the new season. Under the captaincy of all-rounder Hardik Pandya, Mumbai will be keen on putting in their best performances.
However, with the new season approaching, Mumbai Indians seem to have hit a major roadblock as star batter Suryakumar Yadav is doubtful to feature for the side in the first few games of the season. There is no doubt that Suryakumar is one of Mumbai Indians’ best players, but he has been out injured since December 2023.
The star batter sustained an ankle injury in the T20I series against South Africa and even went through a sports hernia operation recently. A new report recently emerged that stated that Suryakumar will miss Mumbai Indians’ first game of the tournament against Gujarat Titans on March 24.
Furthermore, the star batter will be missing the side’s practice matches on March 18 and 20 before the beginning of the IPL. The rumors were further fuelled after Suryakumar took to his Instagram story and posted a heartbreak emoji.
