Ravindra Jadeja begins rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy
Star India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has reached the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru to begin rehabilitation after being ruled out of the second Test against England. Notably, Jadeja sustained a hamstring injury during Day 4 of the first Test in Hyderabad and hence has been replaced by Washington Sundar and Saurabh Kumar in the squad for the second game.
Jadeja had a great time with the bat in the first innings of the game as he was the leading run scorer for India with his knock of 87. The left-arm spinner also picked up five wickets in the match showcasing his true all-round skills. However, his injury has put the team in a precarious situation giving them a headache of finding his ideal replacement. Jadeja shared the news of him reaching the NCA with his fans through his Instagram story and wrote ‘Home for the next few days’.
Notably, the southpaw has been in sensational form since 2019 having the third-highest average for India with the bat with a minimum of six innings played. The southpaw has scored 1489 runs from 42 innings since 2019 at an average of 42.54 with two hundred and 11 fifties to his name. With the ball, he’s the third-highest wicket-taker in the same period with 90 wickets to his name from 53 innings at an average of 26.26 and an economy of 2.63.
KL Rahul was also ruled out due to quadriceps
Meanwhile, apart from him, KL Rahul has also been ruled out of the second Test after he complained of a right quadriceps pain. According to reports, Rahul will likely make a comeback later in the series but Jadeja’s return in the remaining games remains uncertain. Hence, India will have an uphill task of finalizing their team combination in the second game beginning on February 02 at Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam.
The men’s selection committee has named Sarfaraz Khan as a replacement along with Saurabh Kumar and Washington Sundar for the second game. India will have a huge task of making a comeback in the second Test after a surprise loss in the first game by 28 runs in Hyderabad.
