Ranji Trophy 2024: Rahul Tewatia’s new look goes viral
Haryana batter Rahul Tewatia registered his first first-class hundred as he scored 144 (212) against Jharkhand on Day 2 of their Ranji Trophy fixture on Saturday, February 10 in Jamshedpur. However, more than his innings, Tewatia’s new look has been going viral all over social media as Cricket Haryana posted a photograph of his magnificent hundred.
In the viral image, Tewatia can be seen sporting a moustache and batting with a cap on much like the batters of the early 1900s. The 30-year-old earlier used to keep a full-fledged beard and hence fans were a bit taken aback seeing his new look. Most people stated that he reminded them of legendary Pakistan batter Javed Miandad.
Coming back to the Jharkhand vs Haryana Ranji Trophy fixture, Tewatia walked into bat at number 7 with Haryana on 247/5 and smacked 24 fours and one sixes to race to 144 (212). Haryana lost their opener Mayank Shandilya 20 (40) with just 46 runs on the board. Following the early blow, Amit Kumar (109) and Himanshu Rana (82) got involved in a massive 145-run stand for the third wicket.
After their partnership ended, Jharkhand managed to claw their way back into the game picking five wickets for 80 runs leaving Haryana on 271/6. With six wickets down, Tewatia and Sumit Kumar (86 off 156) got involved in a massive 225-run stand for the seventh wicket helping their team score 509 in the first innings. For Jharkhand, Anukul Roy starred with the ball with figures of 5/80 in 28.5 overs.
Jharkhand bundled out for 119 as Jayant Yadav picks fifer
Meanwhile, in reply to Haryana’s massive first-innings score, Jharkhand was bundled out for just 119 on Day 3 in 39.3 overs. Off-spinner Jayant Yadav was the pick of the bowlers for Haryana with figures of 5/35 in 14.3 overs while Sumit Kumar picked up 3/9 in eight overs.
