Pakistan team director Mohammad Hafeez misses flight to Sydney ahead of third Test
Pakistan is all set to take on Australia in the third and final Test of their ongoing series. After losing the first two Tests, the Shan Masood-led side will hope for an improved performance in the upcoming game. A victory in the final Test will avoid them from a white-wash in the Test series.
Notably, the third Test of the series is scheduled to kickstart on Wednesday. Ahead of the test, it was informed that team director Mohammad Hafeez had missed the flight to Sydney ahead of the final Test.
According to Geo News, Hafeez was traveling with his wife and was slated to travel with the team to Sydney; however, he missed the flight at the airport. Post the incident, Hafeez and his wife took an alternative flight to Sydney a few hours later.
Pakistan looks to make amends after losing series
Talking of the ongoing series hosts Australia have already won the three-game affair after dominating Pakistan in the first two Tests of the series. The first Test of the series was played in Perth on December 14. Australia managed to dominate the proceedings and eventually win the game by 360 runs.
Thereafter, the second Test of the series was played at the iconic MCG ground in Melbourne from December 26, and after a Pat Cummins’ masterclass where the skipper took 10 wickets across the two innings, Australia won the second Test by 79 runs and won the series as well.
The third and final Test of the series will prove to be a consolation game for both sides, and Pakistan will look to save face after sensationally losing the first two Tests. The third Test of the series will be played at the Sydney Cricket Ground from January 3, and it could be interesting to see what changes the visitors could make in the series and how they go on about taking on the mighty Aussies after losing the first two matches.
