Netflix to release India vs Pakistan cricket rivalry
Netflix has announced an upcoming documentary series on the cricketing rivalry between India and Pakistan, titled “The Greatest Rivalry”. The first-look announcement video for the documentary has been released by the OTT platform. The video features iconic moments throughout the years between India and Pakistan. The docu-series is expected to go beyond the confines of the cricket pitch and dive even deeper, showing the mental aspect of the marquee clash.
The announcement video features glimpses of Kapil Dev and Imran Khan holding their respective World Cup trophies, with the inclusion of 1947 border imagery, which can be suggestive of the historical inclusion in the documentary. Meanwhile, the exact release date for the series is yet to be announced, but Netflix’s teaser suggests it could be ready for viewing very soon as fans gear up to witness one of the greatest sporting rivalries brought right to their screens.
India-Pakistan set to face off in upcoming T20 World Cup
India and Pakistan are gearing up to write another chapter in the iconic rivalry as they are set to face off in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024, which will be co-hosted by the USA and the West Indies. The marquee clash will take place in New York on June 9. It is worth noting that both sides have competed in the T20 World Cup seven times, twice in 2007 (including the Final), 2012, 2014, 2016, 2021, and 2022.
The Men in Blue have emerged victorious six times out of seven, with the only loss coming in 2021 when Pakistan broke India’s winning streak with a 10-wicket win. The most recent T20 World Cup clash between the two sides was in October 2022 inside a packed Melbourne Cricket Stadium, when Virat Kohli’s iconic knock helped India register a memorable victory. As the T20 World Cup 2024 approaches, both sides will aim to put in good performances once more, giving the fans a spectacle to cherish.
