Revered as one of the greatest players of all time produced by Sri Lanka, Kumar Sangakkara made his presence known whenever he stepped out to bat. In the 37 games that he played across ODI World Cups, Sangakkara scored 1532 runs, which included five centuries and seven half-centuries and maintained a sensational average of 56.74.
2. Ricky Ponting
Legendary former Australian skipper Ricky Ponting sits in second place. Ponting played 46 games in the World Cup where he amassed 1743 runs to his name. Under his leadership, Australia went on to win several World Cups. In the 46 games he played, Ponting scored five centuries and six half-centuries and maintained an impressive average of 45.86 runs

The legendary Indian batter, Sachin Tendulkar, makes his presence known at the top almost habitually. Throughout his career, Tendulkar featured in 45 World Cup matches, being one of the most important players for India. Tendulkar amassed 2278 runs and is the highest run-getter in ODI World Cup history. In the 45 matches, Tendulkar scored six centuries and 15 half-centuries and maintained a spectacular average of 56.95.
