MI vs RR Review: Rajasthan sink Mumbai to top the table
Mumbai Indians (MI) lost their third consecutive match in the Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024) against Rajasthan Royals (RR) by six wickets on Monday, April 1 at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. After being put in to bat first, MI had a complete batting failure as they could only manage to score 125/9 in their allotted 20 overs.
Captain Hardik Pandya was the top scorer for the side with his knock of 34 (21). In reply, Rajasthan comfortably chased down the target in 15.3 overs courtesy of another match-winning knock from Riyan Parag. Following their win, RR climbed to the top of the points table with three wins from three matches. While Mumbai is still languishing at the bottom without a win in the first three games.

Riyan Parag (54* off 39)
The 22-year-old continued his marvellous form in the season scoring his second consecutive half-century. Parag walked in to bat with his side on 42/2 and got set at the crease by nudging the ball around for singles. He went on to play a magnificent knock of 54* (39) with the help of five fours and three sixes. Courtesy if his batting, RR registered their third straight win of the season.
Yuzvendra Chahal (3/11)
After Trent Boult and Nandre Burger did the early damage in Mumbai’s innings, Yuzvendra Chahal continued to keep things tight in the middle overs. The wrist-spinner broke the crucial partnership between Hardik Pandya and Tilak Varma by dismissing both batters. He further got rid of Gerald Coetzee to register figures of 3/11 in four overs.

Mumbai Indians will have a long gap ahead of their next game. They will take on Delhi Capitals on Sunday, April 07 at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. On the other hand, Rajasthan Royals will lock horns with Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Saturday, April 06 at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur.
