Lucknow to take a late call on captaincy ahead of today’s game
Lucknow Super Giants are all set to continue their IPL (Indian Premier League) 2024 campaign by taking on Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the 15th game of the tournament at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Tuesday, April 2.
Ahead of the game, the LSG support staff are pondering the availability of regular skipper KL Rahul for their clash against RCB. It is worth noting that Rahul was substituted out in the side’s recent clash against Punjab Kings, with Nicholas Pooran acting as the captain.
The decision will be made due to LSG acting cautiously after KL Rahul’s quadricep injury, which ruled him out of the last four Tests of the five-match series at home against England earlier this year.
It is worth noting that in the nets, Rahul stayed away from keeping the wickets. He also practiced full-body movements overseen by head coach Justin Langer. Furthermore, he padded up and batted in the nets as well. After finishing the batting practice, Rahul finished up some more mobility drills.
It’s always tough when you have to change combinations: Pooran
Acting captain Nicholas Pooran came forward to talk about how tough it can get when the side needs to change combinations. He opined that the senior players came together and helped him make decisions on the field.
“It’s always tough when you have to change combinations, Obviously, it’s different with KL on the field. But our senior players came together and assisted me in making decisions as well. It’s something that happens. Sometimes when your captain isn’t available, all the senior players stand up, and try and make up for his absence,” Pooran was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.
It could be interesting to see what role Rahul will play in his side’s upcoming game as they gear up to take on RCB. LSG currently sit in sixth place with two points in two matches.
