LSG vs CSK Preview: Chennai seek winning ways against Lucknow

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) continue their ongoing IPL 2025 campaign by taking on Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow, in the 30th game of the tournament on Monday, April 14.
Super Giants will be coming into the game after a clinical win in their previous game over the Gujarat Titans. Despite not having the services of Mitchell Marsh, the Rishabh Pant-led side displayed a powerful show with the bat to chase down the target. Earlier, the LSG bowlers restricted the Gujarat batters to just 180. The side currently finds itself in the third spot of the points table with four wins in six games, with a positive NRR of 0.162.
On the other hand, Chennai Super Kings have had a quiet season so far, winning just one out of six games and languishing at the bottom of the table. With MS Dhoni back as CSK’s captain, the franchise hoped for a change in their fortune, but they suffered a batting collapse in their last match against defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders. Moreover, CSK has not had a good record playing against Lucknow, losing three out of the last five encounters.
Pitch Report
The Ekana Stadium pitch is expected to be well-settled. With a black soil surface, it tends to be slightly slower with lower bounce, but still great for batting. The average first innings score is 181, so anything around that should be defendable. Bowlers must use the big square boundaries smartly. Spinners
had got help from the track in the previous, and with both teams having quality spinners, it is expected that batters will have to be careful while tackling them.
