KL Rahul and Ruturaj Gaikwad fined for slow over-rate in Lucknow clash
KL Rahul, Captain of Lucknow Super Giants has been fined after his team maintained a slow over-rate during Match 34 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 against Chennai Super Kings at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow.
As it was his team’s first offense of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offenses, Rahul was fined INR 12 Lac.
On the other hand, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Captain of Chennai Super Kings has been fined after his team maintained a slow over-rate during Match 34 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 against Lucknow Super Giants at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow.
As it was his team’s first offense of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offenses, Gaikwad was fined INR 12 Lac.
Talking about the LSG vs CSK match, the visitors lost the toss at Ekana Stadium in Lucknow and were asked to bat first. CSK had a slow start to their game and kept losing wickets at regular intervals. On back on Ravindra Jadeja’s 57* off 40 and MS Dhoni’s stunning 28 off 9, CSK went on to post 176 runs on the board.
However, the opening stand of LSG skipper KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock was enough to seal the game for them. Rahul smashed 82 off 53 while De Kock went on to produce 54 off 43 as LSG bagged the match by eight wickets with six balls to spare. KL Rahul, who turned the match in his team’s favor right from the beginning, was rightfully awarded the player of the match. Krunal Pandya took two wickets for LSG while conceding at 5.33. Ravi Bishnoi, Marcus Stoinins, Yash Thakur, and Mohsin Khan got one each under their belts.
