Kane Williamson ruled out of the second Test against India
Kane Williamson has been ruled out of the second Test against India, scheduled to begin on October 24 in Pune. The decision comes as a result of a groin strain he sustained during New Zealand’s recent series against Sri Lanka, which also forced him to miss the first Test in Bengaluru. New Zealand’s head coach, Gary Stead, has indicated that the team is taking a cautious approach regarding Williamson’s recovery, stating, “We’re monitoring Kane and he’s tracking in the right direction, but isn’t yet 100% fit”.
Despite this setback, New Zealand heads into the second Test with a 1-0 lead in the series, having secured a historic victory in the first Test-their first win in India since 1988. The BlackCaps are looking to build on this momentum, and they will rely on their batting lineup, which features strong performances from players like Rachin Ravindra, who scored a maiden Test century during the opening match.
