Jasprit Bumrah prioritises meeting mother before facing Pakistan
The ODI World Cup 2023 gears up for one of its most anticipated encounters. After their dominant win against Afghanistan, Team India gears up to take on the Babar Azam-led Pakistan at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Saturday, October 14.
As the game approaches, every eye will be set on ace Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who makes his return to his hometown of Ahmedabad. Gearing up to face off against Pakistan, Bumrah came forward to opine that meeting his family and his mother takes first priority ahead of facing Pakistan.
Bumrah talked of how he has not played an ODI at the Narendra Modi Stadium, but from his experience at the ground in Test cricket, the 29-year-old anticipates that the atmosphere is going to be exciting.
“I’ve been away for a while now. I’ll be happy to see my mother at home. I’m going to see her. That’s the first basic thing for me. I have not played a one-dayer there, but I have played a test match. The atmosphere is going to be exciting. I’m sure a lot of people are going to come. So, it will be a sight to see. So yeah, hoping for the best over there,” Jasprit Bumrah was quoted as saying by NDTV.
India looks to continue winning form ahead of Pakistan assignment
The Indian team has been in sensational form for the World Cup 2023. Having played two games in the tournament so far, India has registered wins in both clashes. The side has faced Australia and Afghanistan so far.
After a shaky start to the run chase against Australia, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli ensured that the side came away as the victors. Furthermore, Rohit Sharma’s ecstatic century and Kohli’s resilience against Afghanistan helped them register back-to-back wins.
As India’s clash against Pakistan approaches, it could be interesting to see how the side fares against their arch-rivals, and with the support of the fans behind them in the grand cricket stadium, the game promises to be a spectacle.
