IPL 2025 Auction: Punjab Kings squad analysis
Punjab Kings had retained only Shashank and Prabhsimran Singh and went with the auction with the biggest purse at INR 110.5 crore. They spent well and signed some quality players that can help the franchise win their maiden title in the IPL. Punjab were smart in their choices and covered all the bases and the side will be satisfied with how the auction has fared for them in Jeddah.
They were in desperate need of a quality captain and they did not hesitate to bid heavily for Shreyas Iyer, who led KKR to the trophy in 2024. Punjab signed him for a whopping INR 26.75 crore and added Marcus Stoinis, Glenn Maxwell, Yuzvendra Chahal, Arshdeep Singh, Marco Jansen, Harpreet Brar, Josh Inglis, Nehal Wadhera and Lockie Ferguson among others. They have done a fantastic job in the auction but the opening combination can bother them slightly.
Prabhsimran has been inconsistent while Inglis doesn’t have enough experience of playing in India. If that combination works for Punjab, it’s well and good, else they could be struggling.
