IPL 2025 Auction: MI squad analysis

Mumbai Indians went through turmoil in the last edition of the Indian Premier League as the captaincy change from Rohit Sharma to Hardik Pandya disrupted their team environment and they ended up at the bottom of the table to make matters even worse. The think tank took stock of the matter and resolved the issue as they managed to retain Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Rohit Sharma, and Tilak Varma.

Mumbai was relatively quiet on Day 1 of the mega-auction and had the largest purse in coming to Day 2. They filled the keeper’s role in Ryan Rickelton and covered the spin department by adding Allah Ghazanfar and Mitchell Santner – a department that they struggled with in the past few years. They have also added Will Jacks into the squad, which was a fantastic addition, given how the England international fared in the last edition of the IPL.

The bowling unit looks extremely strong with the duo of Bumrah and Trent Boult can wreak havoc. On top, they have added Deepak Chahar to the squad. Chahar and Boult can do the damage with the new ball while Bumrah can be extremely effective in the death, making it a strong side on paper.
