IPL 2025 Auction: 3 players LSG might target
Lucknow Super Giants qualified for the playoffs in 2022 and 2023 and on both occasions, the KL Rahul-led side lost in the Eliminator. In 2024, they struggled to get going, and that infuriated owner Sanjiv Goenka, who was spotted having an intense conversation with Rahul after the game against Sunrisers Hyderabad. It led to him being released ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction.
For the upcoming season, the franchise retained Nicholas Pooran for INR 21 crore, as Ravi Bishnoi, Mayank Yadav, Ayush Badoni, and Mohsin Khan. They have INR 69 crore available in the auction, which is more than five teams and equal to Gujarat Titans. They will target some big names in the auction and here’s a list of players they can target:
3. Jake Fraser-McGurk
Australia opener Jake Fraser-McGurk made a massive impact in IPL 2024. The 22-year-old played nine games for Delhi Capitals, smashing 330 runs at a phenomenal strike rate of 234.04. Lucknow head coach Justin Langer would look forward to bringing him in given that the aggressive opener will get the intent that the franchise was looking for in Rahul.
2. Fazalhaq Farooqi
Lucknow adores quality overseas pacers and Fazalhaq Farooqi can be an excellent fit. The Afghanistan pacer may not be someone who picks plenty of wickets but he does his job quietly and can be economical in the powerplay, which is vital in the IPL. He did not play a single game for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2024 and is highly underrated.
1. Shreyas Iyer
Lucknow would be hunting for a captain in the mega-auction. As per reports, they have contacted Shreyas Iyer and the former Kolkata Knight Riders captain may head to Ekana. He will solve their middle-order batting worries as well and given his captaincy resume, Iyer can be a perfect fit in the LSG camp.
