IPL 2025 Auction: 3 players Gujarat Titans might target

Gujarat Titans did a phenomenal job under Hardik Pandya in 2022 and 2023. They won the championship in their first attempt in 2022 and qualified for the final in the following year. Controversy broke out after that season as captain Pandya left the franchise and joined Mumbai Indians. Shubman Gill was made the new leader but Gujarat could not find the same success.

Ahead of the IPL 2025 mega-auction, the franchise retained Rashid Khan, Gill, Sai Sudharsan, Shahrukh Khan, and Rahul Tewatia. The goal would be to build the squad around these players and the team management will have to play a massive role in it. They did a commendable job in the 2022 season by not signing top marquee names but quality talents. Will they repeat the same formula? Here are three players that the franchise can target:

3. Mohammed Shami

Gujarat didn’t retain Mohammed Shami, which was slightly surprising. However, the franchise can use their RTM card on the Indian pacer. The Bengal pacer has regained full fitness and featured in the Ranji game against Madhya Pradesh. Notably, he was the leading wicket-taker in IPL 2023 and GT could be interested in having him back.

2. Kagiso Rabada

Gujarat loves foreign pacers and isn’t shy to spend on them. Kagiso Rabada is one talent that the franchise can target in the auction. The South Africa international has plenty of experience as he has played 80 games in the cash-rich league and has picked up 117 wickets at an economy of 8.48.

1. Marcus Stoinis

GT will be looking to bring in an overseas finisher. There is still doubt on Shahrukh’s finishing abilities and someone like Stoinis could be targeted. They had David Miller in the mix for three years and the Proteas have done a good job but his form is slightly concerning. For the same reason, Stoinis can be preferred as he is someone who can bat anywhere and can also bowl if required.
