IPL 2025 Auction: 3 players Delhi Capitals might target

Delhi Capitals are currently operationally divided into two halves. The GMR group will manage the men’s team in the next two years and will be followed by the JSW group taking over for the next two. Ahead of the IPL 2025 auction, the coaching panel of the team has been revamped as Hemang Badani has been appointed as the new head coach, Munaf Patel as bowling head, and Venugopal Rao as Director of Cricket.

Meanwhile, they have retained Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Tristan Stubbs, and Abishek Porel ahead of the IPL 2025 mega-auction. The Capitals have always been a franchise that has invested heavily in local talents and that will be the agenda once again, especially as they have appointed an all-Indian coaching team. Who are the players they can target in the auction? Here’s a brief:

3. Rahmanullah Gurbaz

Delhi will be looking for a new opener after releasing the duo of Prithvi Shaw and David Warner. As the majority of the teams will be looking forward to getting their hands on Jos Buttler, KL Rahul, Devon Conway and Phil Salt among others, DC can quietly get their hands on Rahmanullah Gurbaz, who is extremely effective in the shortest format of the game. The youngster has played 63 T20I games and has scored 1657 runs at a strike rate of 135.48.

2. Shreyas Iyer

Delhi can look forward to welcoming back Shreyas Iyer. After Rishabh Pant’s exit, the franchise is looking for a captain and Iyer can be the right candidate, especially after leading KKR to IPL success in 2024. Apart from being an effective leader, Iyer triples up as an agile fielder and a robust middle-order enforcer. As per reports, DC is keen to get him back and the reunion may be on the cards.

1. Ishan Kishan

Ishan Kishan will be on the list of many franchises. The 26-year-old has played 105 games in the cash-rich league and has scored 2644 runs at a strike rate of 135.86. Delhi will surely be looking at Kishan as Pant’s replacement behind the stumps. He can solve their top-order woes as well which bothered the franchise in the last couple of years.
