IPL 2024: Lucknow onboard Adam Voges as batting consultant
Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have signed former Australia Cricketer Adam Voges as a batting consultant for IPL 2024. Voges will work alongside former Australia opener Justin Langer who was onboarded as a head coach of the team last year. He will also have the company of former South Africa all-rounder Lance Klusener who joined as an assistant coach earlier this month.
Post Voges’ appointment, Langer recalled their long asocial in West Australia Cricket and Perth Scorchers. Notably, Voges was the captain of Western Australia when Langer coached the side. The LSG head coach lauded him for his excellent job in Western Australia cricket and called his addition a great bonus for Lucknow.
“He and I have a long association together through Western Australia cricket and Perth Scorchers. He himself is a very successful head coach. When I was the coach there [at Western Australia], he was the captain. He took over from me and has done a phenomenal job in West Australian cricket. So, to have him involved with LSG is a great bonus for all of us. He is an outstanding person and an excellent coach. He will bring in so much. We are very thrilled to have him involved,” said Langer in a media release.
Notably, Voges represented Australia in 20 Tests, 31 ODIs, and 7 T20Is. He made his Test debut against West Indies in June 2015 at Roseau at the age of 35 and became the oldest player to score a century on Test debut. He went on to score 1485 runs in Tests at an average of 61.87 with five hundred and four fifties to his name.
