IPL 2024: Delhi Capitals Retained & Released players

The trading ring for the Indian Premier League (IPL) ahead of the 2024 edition came to an end on Sunday, November 26. And as expected, all the participating franchises saw a decent amount of shuffle in its draft squad ahead of the auction. Some names like Hardik Pandya and Shardul Thakur came as a shocker for the fans. However, some interesting changes and additions were made to the squads, especially from Delhi Capitals.

The Capitals have been among the favourites, with full credit going to the formidable squad and management they have. Ahead of the upcoming season of the mega event, it was made official that their icon player and wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant will be seen donning the captain’s hat. Pant had to miss out on playing the previous season, as he met with a horrific car accident in December 2022, which kept him away from the game for quite some time.

In 2023, the Delhi-based franchise finished ninth on the points table, as they tasted failure more often than not in the league stage. Manish Pandey and Sarfaraz Khan were among the rumoured names whom the franchise released for the next season, and they did turn out to be true, as the franchise did not show faith in these big names. Moreover, to come back stronger and harder in the next edition, they had to let go some less-impactful players from their unit to bring in names who could well help the team lift their maiden trophy of the cash-rich league.
