India women’s squads announced for home series against England and Australia
India have named their squads for the three-match T20Is series against England as well the two one-off Tests against England and Australia. England will a three-match T20I series on December 6, 9 and 10 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The T20Is will be followed by a one-off Test from December 14 to 17 at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. India will also face Australia in a Test from December 21 to 24 at the Wankhede Stadium.
the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the squads for all the upcoming assignments. Harmanpreet Kaur is going to lead the team in both the T20Is as well as the Tests while Smriti Mandhana will be her deputy. Yastika Bhatia and Richa Ghosh are the two wicketkeeping options in both the squads.
The talented duo of Shreyanka Patil and Saika Ishaque received maiden call-ups. The left-arm spinner is a part of both the T20I as well as the Test squads, while Patil has been picked only for the T20Is. Meanwhile, young pacer Titas Sadhu, who impressed during the Asian Games, earned a maiden national call for the red-ball format. Karnataka’s Shubha Satheesh is another player who received a maiden Test call-up.
Indian women’s team will play Test cricket at home for the first time since 2014. They played a couple of Tests in England and Australia in 2021 and managed to come out with two draws. The excitement among the fans is palpable as they are expecting a riveting Indian home season featuring three of the top sides in women’s cricket.
