I’m preparing myself for Border-Gavaskar Trophy: Shreyas Iyer
Shreyas Iyer is eager to reclaim his spot in the Test squad ahead of the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy after scoring a remarkable century for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy. This was Iyer’s first red-ball century since November 2021, where he made 144 runs, helping his team post a formidable total of 441 runs.
Having battled injuries, Iyer expressed his excitement about returning to form, stating that he feels “absolutely keen” for a Test comeback. He emphasized the importance of maintaining fitness and consistency as he aims for selection against Australia.
“Playing in Australia, especially in a Border-Gavaskar series, is one of the biggest challenges in cricket. The conditions, the rivalry, and the intensity demand everything from you, and these are the moments you want to be part of as a cricketer. I’m preparing myself to grab that opportunity and leave a mark,” Iyer was quoted as saying by News18.
Iyer has previously faced challenges, including being dropped from the BCCI’s central contract list and not featuring for India since February. With the Border-Gavaskar Trophy starting on November 22, he faces competition from other players but remains optimistic about his chances.
