ICC announces changes in T20 WC 2024 schedule
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced a few changes to the schedule of the T20 World Cup 2024 as tickets for the mega event went live on Thursday, February 01. Notably the ninth edition of the tournament is scheduled to begin from June 01 in the West Indies and the USA. The opening game of the event will be played between Canada and the USA at Grand Prairie Cricket Stadium, Dallas on June 01.
While announcing the ticketing process for the mega event, the ICC informed about the change of dates of the two semi-finals of the tournament. Notably, the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Trinidad and Tobago which was scheduled to host the second semi-final on June 27 will now host the first semi-final on June 26 with June 27 as reserve day.
On the other hand, the Providence Stadium, Guyana which was earlier going to host the first semi-final on June 26, will now host the second semi-final on June 27 with June 28 as reserve day. The move is done to allow suitable travel time for the teams that progress to the final.
The ICC has also confirmed the starting time of all the matches except the final of the tournament which will be played on June 29 at Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados. India will begin their campaign against Ireland on June 05 at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, New York.
India vs Pakistan game to be held on June 09
Notably, all of India’s four group matches will begin at 8:00 PM IST with the much-awaited India vs Pakistan game to be held on Sunday, June 09 in New York. For the ticketing process, the ICC has come up with a public ticket ballot to give a fair and equitable chance to fans to apply for tickets which will run from February 01 – February 07.
Once the fans enter the website they can apply for up to six tickets for their favourite matches and will be informed whether they’ve secured them via email along with a payment link. However, if they fail to make the payment within the prescribed time, the tickets will go for general sale on February 22 which will be sold on a first come first serve basis.
